WHAT HAPPENS ON THE STREET, HAPPENS IN THE WORLD
STREET I AM CELEBRATES THE HUMAN ACHIEVEMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION WITHOUT THE AID OF A SECOND AND THIRD PARTY FILTER.
THE TASK OF DEVELOPING A UNIVERSALLY UNDERSTOOD LANGUAGE OF IMAGES AND SOUND WILL BE THE NEXT ACHIEVEMENT IN HUMAN EVOLUTION. STREET CULTURE ON THE INTERNET, HELPS US DEVELOP THIS LANGUAGE.
Street and Public Culture entertainment is defined as art, performance, festivals, parades, assemblies and celebrations presented in all public places.
Street culture can be said to be something that transforms the street from a place that you are passing through, into a place you want to be.
From the time that the first towns and roads came into existence, Street Culture was born.
The ability of an individual to express oneself in public places has always been an important indicator of the level of civilization and culture of that place. Street art and Culture are often synonymous with energy, revitalization and enterprise. Street Culture is many times found in the more prosperous areas of the world and its cities.
The limits imposed on Street Culture and individual public expression by society in any one area, have come to define the limits of freedom permitted in that area. For example, in dictatorships and one party states, little or no individual expression through Street Culture is to be found. Representative government societies however allow much more. Societies which allow more individual expression are more prosperous than those which do not.
Street culture is a language without words. Developing Street Culture is developing a language that has the power to speak to everyone. Street I Am believes the more fun we have in the development of our new language the the easier it will be to express our selves in our new language.

The goal of Street I Am is to post news, pictures, videos and articles from around the world that are about Street, Public Art and Performance (Busking) Culture. Our goal is to be the one place that has all the news on this subject available every day. We want to be the most complete source of Street Culture news and information available. Street I Am includes parks as a subject for public art and performance but we lean heavily to the street and road side of life.
Street I Am loves to post;
Street art with the name of the artist, the location of the art.
Photos with great composition and technical craft.
Art that gives perspective, makes a statement or enhances in some way the location where it is exhibited.
Political art. Right, left, center, in, out, up and down, all around.
Art that expresses an idea, concept or point of view in a stylistic way, with originality, humor or pure crafty skill.
Art from artists that are becoming or are well known
Cool new stuff from kids in their hoods. In fact, this may be the most thrilling part of the whole deal for us, finding new talent.
Street I Am avoids posting;
Street art with no artist name or location.
Anything that looks like amateur doodles you can find in any school notebook.
Any picture that is not actually on the street but only is in the so-called street art style in a gallery or other indoor spot. The exception is when a building is taken over inside and out by street artists or when the artwork is part of an article about a street artist.
